Description:  The router is a very versatile tool that can be used free hand or mounted in a table. Understanding the routers capabilities can open a whole new world of design opportunities for you. This class will teach you the different types of routers and router bits, when to use the router free handed and when to mount it in a table. A video may also be shown to demonstrate different techniques and router types.

Description:  We will be demonstrating the steps in making a raised panel and flat panel doors using rail and stile router bits and panel raising bits. You will learn how to prepare the stock, size your doors, cut your pieces and assemble the door.

Description:  The band saw is a very versatile tool in the woodworking shop. This class will teach you the various parts of the band saw and how to properly set it up. You will learn about the different types of blades and which is best to use for different types of cuts. We will discuss safety concerns when using the band saw as well as pattern making options and laying out patterns. Several different cuts will be demonstrated in various materials.

Description:  We will briefly review material covered in Band saw 101 as we set up the saw for the class. After properly tuning the the saw you will cut various thicknesses of wood making straight and curved cuts and even try your hand at re-sawing. you will learn how to lay out a block of wood for compound cuts as well a make a wooden spatula utilizing this technique.

Basic Box Making

Description:  This class will teach you the basic concepts of box making. You will make a lift lid box with  beveled lid, splined miter joints and a dadoed bottom. Once the basic concept of box making is mastered you will be able to make many more boxes of various sizes and styles. We will make the entire box using only the table saw with various shop made jigs.

Description:  Next time you go to purchase lumber or plywood you will know what you are or aren't getting and what questions to ask. You will learn the different terms associated with plywood and lumber like FAS, S3S, KD, Board Feet, A1, B2 and many others. We will discuss what are considered defects and make lumber un-usable and what is acceptable or adds character. You will learn how to calculate board footage and which grades of lumber allows which and how much of each type of character and defect.

Description:  The class will cover the different turning tools, the lathe and its parts, safety considerations, turning green and dry wood, the effects of wood grain, the basic bowl form,  mounting the work on the lathe, forming the outside of the vessel and inside vessel turning, reverse mounting to finish the bottom. All class participants will complete a bowl turning.

Description:  The class will cover more in depth bowl design and form, how to prepare bowl blanks, rough cutting bowl blanks from green wood, balancing bowl blanks, blank mounting, lathe prep, turn more advanced forms, hollow inside, reverse mount and turn the bottom, proper sanding techniques, apply a finish. All participants will complete an intermediate bowl turning.
